“Relationship to Colleagues” – John 17:20-23 – Pastor Bruce Lerum
“Colleague” is a 50-cent word for a relationship to someone with whom we associate.
Colleagues aren’t only people we associate with professionally.
“But be glad and rejoice forever in what I will create, for I will create Jerusalem to be a delight and its people a joy.” – Isaiah 68:18
Relationships are like the pebble thrown in the pond.
They come in concentric circles: family on the inside; the next circle is friends; the next circle is colleagues.
[Jesus praying to the His Father] “I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one.” – John 17:22
People in our lives are “God–incidences.”
That is ALL people.
“Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice.” – Philippians 4:9
1. Who are people in your life that you see as God-incidences?
2. Think of someone in your life that you are not necessarily glad to have in your life. What causes you to feel this way?
3. In light of your answer to the previous question, how can you see a God-incidence in it?
4. Sometimes we pray for situations. How do we react when God gives a test instead of a resolution?
