What does the Holy Spirit do? – Romans 8:9-17 – Pastor Lerum

The Holy Spirit’s initial work is to:

Convict us of sin.

Expose our need for Jesus.

Convince us of the truth.

Enable us to believe.

“You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ.” – Romans 8:9

The Spirit’s work marks the beginning of:

  • A new life.
  • A new relationship.

“For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.” – Ephesians 2:18

Jesus wants to turn our life upside down.

The Spirit helps make it happen.

“[Nicodemus] came to Jesus at night…” – John 3:2a
