Our sinful nature sometimes causes us to forget that our fellow man is not our enemy. When that happens it’s easy to speak ill of them, to slander, gossip and ruin their reputation. James says “the tongue is a fire,” and that “no human being can tame it.” (James 3:5-8) But God calls us to speak well of our neighbor, defend their reputation, and put everything in the best possible light.
