Our homes, our lives, our workplaces and even our schools can sometimes best be characterized as ‘battle fields’ where we rage war against each other. Our words and actions cause strife and discord and they bring hurt and destruction. But Jesus wants us to be peacemakers. He wants us to spread ‘shalom,’ which means far more than the absence of bad, it means “I wish you the highest good.” What would our lives look like if we wished everyone the highest good, and then took steps to make that happen?
