I wanted to thank you for taking the time to participate in our recent survey. The president and I have personally read each one, word for word. I have already asked the ushers to dim the lights at the beginning of the service and the Buildings and Grounds team has added a railing to the chancel.

 

The surveys showed an overwhelming response by the congregation for CTV to focus our energy on youth, families and events. Please know that I am addressing that as my highest priority this summer.

 

The survey also was very clear that we need to address the aesthetics and functionality of our facilities, both inside and outside. As you know, this will not happen overnight nor will it be cheap. We want to make sure that we do this right, so the Church Council has contracted with Ron Burcham of PBR Navigating to help our congregation through a Vision Framing & Planning process. This 7-8 month process will begin in January 2027 and will involve opportunities for the entire congregation to provide input as to our future direction. 

 

Just about anything we do to improve the aesthetics and functionality of our buildings will be in the tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands range, and we will have to make sure that we manage our cash flow well and can support these improvements without depleting our reserve for emergencies. So it’s important that we first invest the time to gain clarity on who we are and where our ministry is headed before we start raising and investing that kind of money.

 

On the music front, Justin Cantrell has accepted the position of Contemporary Music Director and will be offering ‘more contemporary’ contemporary music. In regards to those of you who prefer a traditional service, I have heard you and am well aware that you would like someone who can play the keyboard for our traditional services. I am actively looking and have one or two prospects, but I am respectfully requesting your patience as we search for a traditional music leader. If you have any leads, or if you yourself play the piano or keyboard, please reach out to me and let me know.

 

I am also aware that last week’s music, slides, sound, livestream, etc could have gone much better and am addressing that as well, but again I ask for your patience. We have different people involved now for various reasons which has necessitated some different systems and it will take a little bit to get it consistently right. Our main sound engineer is out of town until September and we have multiple new musicians using the equipment, all of whom require fine tuning of their mics and instruments.

 

There were certainly other matters of feedback mentioned in the survey, and again I want to assure you that your feedback is important to me and that I am prayerfully discerning all the things that might be done to fulfill the work Christ would have us do at Christ the Victor Lutheran Church.
