The ability to rely on oneself in this world is a wonderful trait, but in a spiritual sense, self-sufficiency is deadly. No matter what we have accomplished or accumulated, we must still depend on God for our salvation. A person who feels no need to repent or to seek forgiveness from God is spiritually dead in their sins and will be spit out!
